SEEDING RATE TRIALS WITH WHEAT AND OATS

Two rates of seeding trials were conducted at the Dickinson Station in 1965, one with wheat and one with oats. The results of these trials are recorded in tables 41 and 42.

In the 1965 trials Justin wheat with a purity of 96.0%, a germination of 92.0%, and a bushel weight of 60.0 pounds was used. The pure live seed percentage of this wheat seed was 88.3%.

Russell oats with a purity of 99.9%, a germination of 98%, and a test weight of 35.0 pounds was used. The pure live seed percentage of this seed was 98.0%.

The trial was seeded on summerfallow, and fertilized at a rate of 75 pounds per acre with 11-48-0.
