CORN TRIALS - 1952

Seed of 15 o.p. varieties and hybrids and twelve experimental stains of corn were furnished by Mr. Wm. Widakas for trial at the Dickinson Experiment Station in 1952.

Top yielder this year was Nodak 301 which ranked first for shelled corn yield and third for silage yield. Nodak 208 ranked second and fourth, and Experimental No. 712, which has been high yielder for the past two years, ranked fourth for grain yield and second in silage yield.

Nodak 301 and Experimental No. 712 are the two most promising hybrids in the trials in comparison with Falconer and Rainbow Flint, o.p. varieties. Nodak 301 has averaged 98 percent of the yield of Falconer in comparison of grain yield and 108 percent of Falconer in a comparison of silage yields for the past nine years. No. 712 has been in Dickinson trials for three years.

Comparative yields for the corn trials conducted at the Dickinson Experiment Station from 1943-1952 inclusive are presented in tables 17 and 18.
