Location: Dickinson Research Extension Center , Dickinson , ND
Purpose: To provide assistance in agronomy field research to the Experiment Station Agronomist at the Dickinson Research Extension Center .
Duties and Responsibilities: Successful applicants must be capable of receiving and following directions from the Agronomist concerning the collection, processing, and recording of data, the maintenance of research plot ground, and overall management of land dedicated to agronomic research.
This individual will assist the agronomist and other research staff in various aspects of agronomic field research. Much of the work requires good physical fitness. Day-to-day tasks may involve some equipment maintenance and operation. Equipment used may include lawn mowers, 100 HP tractors, electric hand clippers, walk-behind small-plot mechanical harvesters, seed cleaning equipment, and similar equipment commonly used in agronomic field research. Those with previous experience may be asked to operate tractor-mounted roto-tillers. Additional duties may include assisting the agronomist or other research personnel in mechanical harvesting operations.
This position requires some indoor and outdoor work in various weather conditions. This individual must be able to adjust both physically and mentally to these conditions.
Competencies and Experience Desired:
A minimum of 3 years experience related to the job requirements is preferred. A farm or ranch background would be helpful as would a mechanical background, but these are not essential requirements for the job.
Salary: $8/hr or compensation commensurate with qualifications. Position to begin April 15, 2005 or as soon as available thereafter, and end sometime in August (depending on starting date).
