2006 Focus on Yardening

It was standing room only in the new DREC office complex classroom, prior to the Second Annual ‘Yardening’ Tour and Clinic held on September 7, 2006. Kris Ringwall, DREC Director, was first on the program to welcome participants and provide an update on DREC activities and the new office complex.

The tour group appeared to be very interested in viewing the Horticulture research/demonstrations that are currently in progress. Lots of questions on: container grown tomatoes, harvesting and uses of decorative corn, the annual flower variety trials, hybrid tea rose evaluation and xeric landscape plants.

The herbs and spices from Garden to Table program was very popular. Pam Moormann, DHS Family and Consumer Science teacher discussed this topic. She was assisted by two students in her World Foods Class.
