Residue Management Project

The NDSU Residue Management Project monitors soil moisture and temperature in 6-12”, 12-18”, and 18-24” stubble in western, central, and eastern North Dakota. Electronic sensors also monitor rainfall, wind speed and air temperature. The sensors are wired to a data logger that is connected to a cellular modem. A remote computer is programmed to contact the cellular modem every six hours to transfer the data to a computer that serves the data on this Website. The monitoring sites are located in Golden Valley, Stutsman and Cass Counties.
