Your Home Page

The home page of your website is the first thing visitors see when they stop by. You should consider the impression you give to those visitors.

If someone were to stop by your offices, you'd bring them in, show them around a bit, find out what brought them in, and maybe answer some of their questions. It wouldn't be very considerate to have the door closed with just the address and phone number painted on it, and maybe a few brochures available if they wanted to rummage through them.

Sound like any websites you know?

Instead, you might want to consider what advertisers know - pictures are worth a thousand words. And kids and pets win over most everyone. Take some action shots of your office at work in the community. Add some text that talks about what you do and what you have to offer. Talk about things that are relevant at the current time - the weather even. Help visitors identify where they can find what they're looking for. And don't overwhelm them with more information than they can take it. Be polite. Be helpful.

It doesn't take much work to have a friendly, inviting home page, but it does take a bit of thought(fulness).
