Item Type: File

The "File" item type provides a link that can either open or download PDFs, documents, spreadsheets, presentations, or audio files.

Use It For

  • A brochure in PDF format that can be viewed or downloaded
  • A registration form in Word format (so folks can type in their own information)

Best Practices

  • Consider uploading these files to the Documents folder. They will be easier to find from all areas of your website that way.
  • Consider taking the content out of the file and putting it into a Web Page so it's more searchable and users won't need to download it.
  • Make sure the file isn't already online - you don't want to duplicate information. For example, if there's a numbered publication on the NDSU Pubs site link directly to the existing Web address instead of uploading it to your site.
  • If you have many files to upload, try the Quick Upload Portlet to save you time.

Add New File

Add new file in Ag CMS. Note, if you have a multiple files to add, you'll want to use the Quick Upload Portlet instead of following these instructions, which is for just uploading a file or two.
