Creative Commons Provides Usage Guidelines

You may have noticed a box in the lower left of NDSU Ag websites in the Ag content management system that say Use This Content. The Rules for Use link and icons describe how information on that page may be used by others following an international standard called Creative Commons.

Rather than having people ask for permission to use NDSU Agriculture and University Extension information from the Web (which research shows the vast majority of people don't do anyway), we're carrying out the land-grant mission of getting that information to the people who can use it by utilizing the Creative Commons options for:

  • attribution
  • noncommercial
  • share alike

This means other people can use the information as long as it's attributed as requested, used for noncommercial purposes and they agree to share their information with others. See the Rules for Use page for details.
