Ag Mag Provides Ag Education for Elementary Students

Want to help teach elementary students about agriculture? The North Dakota Ag Mag can be used with school ag days, career events, 4-H meetings and many other situations in addition to teacher classrooms.

The Ag Mag is developed by Ag Communication under contract with the N.D. Dept. of Agriculture and N.D. Agriculture in the Classroom Council, and is distributed to thousands of the state's third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students three times per school year.

Issues focus on topics such as wheat, biofuels, livestock and land stewardship, oilseeds, ag history, North Dakota's #1 commodities and weeds. PDFs of the student magazine and teacher guides are available online and can be accessed from the Center for 4-H Youth Development website under Staff Resources then Youth Education Resources.

A new issue that focuses on horticulture and forestry must be completed by Feb. 1, so if you have ideas for activities that can be included in the magazine or that teachers can lead in the classroom, please share them.

Help educate elementary students about North Dakota agriculture using the Ag Mag.
