Instructional Designer Needed for Virtual Communication Camp

The NDSU Extension Service and Agriculture Communication are searching for an experienced instructional designer to lead transitioning an in-person Communication Camp into a distance program for Extension educators across the country.

The instructional designer will:

  • Meet with Communication Camp leaders to learn about the program
  • Review all the PowerPoints, videos, handouts and other Communication Camp resources and edit them for content, consistency and virtual delivery
  • Organize the resources in Moodle
  • Help recruit and organize the pilot year’s three or four multistate VCC teams and their liaisons
  • Schedule the synchronous VCC segments
  • Support synchronous and asynchronous technologies
  • Develop evaluation instruments
  • Carry out other tasks to provide leadership for this VCC pilot

  • Proven experience in designing online educational programs
  • Experience with web conferencing
  • Independent initiative
  • Creative thinking
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills


  • Knowledge of Extension education
  • Moodle experience
  • Program evaluation experience

The selected instructional designer will receive a flat fee of $20,000 with half paid one month after the project begins and half paid at the successful completion of the project. No fringe benefits are provided for this contract work. North Dakota State University will hold the copyright of the completed work.

The work will begin later in June 2015 and must be completed before the grant expires in June 2016.
