Welcome to the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering

The Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering at North Dakota State University is here to serve our students and our profession by providing quality educational programs that prepare graduates for 21st century living and career opportunities.  Our department strives to generate new knowledge in engineering and allied technologies for production agriculture, the food system, and related environmental resources.

Our mission is to discover and extend knowledge and technology (via teaching, research and extension programs) that serve to advance the productivity of agriculture, the processing and utilization of biological materials, and the sustainability, use and management of environmental resources.

The Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering department actively conducts research that extends the knowledge base for enhancing agricultural efficiency, profitability and sustainability as well as maintaining quality and adding value to biological materials.  Our Extension faculty provide outreach education focused on identified issues and needs including agri-production systems, environmental resources management and agricultural safety.
