Stay Hydrated

Summer is upon us, thankfully, and with it, endless outdoor activity options. Whether you spend your days hiking, frolfing, or boating, one thing that you should be thinking about is your hydration level.

stay hydratedI know that does not sound all that glamorous, but staying hydrated is essential for our body to function well. After all, your body is comprised mostly of water. To help you avoid dehydration, check out these tips:

Choose water as your go-to beverage. Not only is water an inexpensive option, it is also the option most beneficial to your health. Other beverages often contain added sugar, which contributes to added calories. 

Let thirst be your guide. You may have heard in the past that there are specific guidelines to how much water you should be consuming each day, but as luck would have it, you do not need to memorize any numbers or formulas. Rather, listen to your body and drink when you are thirsty.

Know when to up the ante. There are definitely times when you need to up your water consumption, such as when you are spending a lot of time in the heat or if you are being active. Be sure to have a water bottle handy and refill as necessary.

Fruits and vegetables can add to your hydration. Fruits and vegetables naturally contain water, so regularly noshing on these will contribute to your hydration. If you want to get really fancy, add some fruit to your water!
