10 Tips to Help You Budget for the Holidays

Here are some tips to help you stay within budget this year.

10 Tips Holiday Budget1. Establish a spending limit. Start with the amount you can spend, not what you want to buy.

2. Make a list and check it twice. Extra expenses, such as decorations, holiday cards and travel, are often overlooked when making a holiday budget.

3. Shop around. Comparison shop or check online.

4. Track your spending. You made a budget, now use it.

5. Avoid using credit. Do your best to not finance your holiday spending. If you are planning on using credit, make sure not to charge more than you can afford.

6. Gift exchanges. Set a spending limit. Gift exchanges are a great way for everyone to be included and recieve gifts without breaking the bank. 

7. Homemade gifts. Share you talent and make a homemade gift for those on your list.

8. Gift an experience. Plan a vacation or gift an experience such as a cooking or craft class.

9. Host a potluck. Have everyone pitch in instead of financing a family meal on your own.

10. Avoid impulse shopping. Don’t put yourself in a position to blow your budget. Stick to your list.
