Windows 10

Support Requirements

Due to various technical and support considerations, not all supported computers will be eligible to run Windows 10.

Computer models that are eligible to run (or upgrade to) Windows 10 include:

  • HP EliteDesk 800 Desktops (all generations)
  • HP EliteBook 820 / 840 / 850 Notebooks (all generations)
  • HP X2 1011 / 1012 Hybrid Tablets
  • Other supported computers manufactured in 2015 or later

For computers that are not eligible for Windows 10, we will continue to provide full support for Windows 7 for the supported life of the computer.

Windows 10 Builds Currently Supported

Support for each Windows 10 build version is dependent on both the age of the build and its compatibility with our management software.  We will install or upgrade to the build we are currently deploying on a qualified and supported computer at no charge.

Deployment Methods

For supported computers located on-campus, we are currently deploying Windows 10 installations and updates over the network via our SCCM management tool.  Off-campus offices will receive Windows 10 updates as they are released via Microsoft Updates.

Unsupported computers can either request an installation disc from NDSU Software Licensing or request a one-time network installation by ACCS at no charge.  Please note that ACCS does not support or provide any guarantee for unsupported installations.
