My name changed, how do I fix it?

If you are one of the unlucky few who's name was changed after the migration, there are a number of steps you can take to get your name changed back.
The steps will differ depending on whether you need to change your first name or last name.

First Name

If your first name changed back to a more formal or legal version, the easiest way to get it changed back is to contact the NDSU Help Desk (231-8685 Option 1) and put in a request for a vanity name change.  Be sure to specify what you need your first name changed to and also provide your emplid (NDSU ID number).  The Help Desk will create a ticket and send it to the NDSU security officer for approval and change.  This process can take several days.

Last Name

If your last name somehow was changed to a previous version, there is an additional step you'll need to do.  Before calling the NDSU Help Desk, you'll need to contact NDSU Human Resources (231-8961) to put in a request to have your name changed in their database.   Once this has been done (you'll want to check with HR on a time estimate), you can then contact the Help Desk (231-8685 Option 1) and have them create a ticket to send to NDSU security for review and change.
