Claim your NDUS Account

Prior to attempting to claim a new NDUS account, in many cases we've found people already have one and didn't realize it.

Checking for an existing Account

  1. Visit the NDUS helpdesk website
  2. Click on the blue Your NDUS Account button

  3. Click on the I Forgot My NDUS Account ID button

  4. Enter the required information including Social Security number, First & Last name and date of birth.

  5. If you are informed that you do NOT have an account, jump down to the Claim Your Account section.

  6.  If you DO have an account, you'll want to make sure you know the password.  You can do this by visiting the password status page.  This page will also tell you how long until you need to change your password as well.

  7. If you have an account but don't know the password, visit the NDUS Forgotten Password page to help reset it.

To claim your account:

Before beginning the claim process, please make sure you have your NDSU EMPLID number handy.  This is typically a 7 digit number assigned to you by NDSU.  If you do not have one, or aren't sure, you may need to contact the NDSU Help Desk (231-8685).

  1. Open a browser and visit the NDUS Help Desk Website (
  2. Locate and click on the blue Your NDUS Account button

  3. Now click on Claim and NDUS Account

  4. A short video should start.  Once the video is finished, a new page will load where you will need to enter your NDSU EMPLID and date of birth.

  5. The next screen will prompt you for answers for up to six security questions that can be used to restore your account if you ever forget your password.

  6. Once done, you will now be asked to create a new password.  Please pay special attention to the password requirements to ensure your new password will work.

  7. After that you will see one final screen displaying your NDUS account ID.  This is the ID you will be using for all NDUS services including your email.  In most cases it will end up being your firstname.lastname, however, in some cases where there is another state employee with the same name there might be a slight change such as the addition of a middle initial.

Congratulations!  You have successfully claimed your NDUS account.
