NDSU junior Forrest Hanson received one of 11 Mid America CropLife Association Young Leader Scholarship Awards for 2021. The award requires the recipient to be enrolled in one of the 14 participating MACA land-grant universities and to have secured a summer internship in agriculture.

It includes a cash scholarship and a travel stipend to attend the association’s annual meeting, scheduled for Sept. 7-9 in St. Louis. One scholarship is awarded per university.

Hanson is from Webster, South Dakota, and is majoring in crop and weed sciences in the NDSU Department of Plant Sciences. He is advised by Greta Gramig, associate professor of plant sciences. He will intern at Rock and Roll Agronomy as a crop scout and will be demonstrating a scouting App for FarmQA. He also plans to help with research plots in the Devils Lake, North Dakota area.

The Young Leader Scholarship Award Program is a leadership and networking program designed to encourage students in agricultural higher education to pursue careers in the crop protection industry.
