Major: Animal Science
Minor: Agribusiness
Year: Junior
Hometown: Holdingford, MN
Graduation Date: Spring 2021

Why did you choose NDSU? I chose NDSU because it has the small town feel even though you are at a Division 1 school. I also chose it because of animal science.

Why did you select the College of Agriculture, Food Systems, and Natural Resources? I grew up raising livestock and knew the college would have the best opportunities to take classes that interested me from previous experiences growing up farming.

Scholarships you have received and what it meant to you:  I have received the George Fisher Memorial Scholarship and Mervin and Constance Tuntland Scholarship. Scholarships are important to me because they reward me for my hard work and they help me stress less about paying for college. This allows me to focus more of my time on school work instead spending all of my time working a job.

Clubs/organizations you’re involved in and why it is beneficial: I am a member of Saddle & Sirloin, Ag Ambassadors and Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity. Being involved on campus is very beneficial for making connections and friendships. Many of my best friends are from being involved in organizations on campus. It is also beneficial if you can be a leader within these organizations to help you build leadership skills as well as building up your resume for employment after graduation.

List any internships and a brief description of what you did: Last Summer I had an internship with Pilgrim’s Pride in Coldspring, MN. My role was to travel to different broiler chicken barns analyzing what causes certain chicken barns to be more efficient compared to others when looking at the effective cost of raising a chicken to finishing weight.

What is your greatest memory at NDSU? My greatest memory at NDSU was attending my first Bison Football game where they hung up the new national championship banner.

What are your future plans? My future plans aren’t completely decided yet, but I’m hoping to land a job within the poultry industry. I could end up anywhere in the country depending on the job.
