Why did you choose NDSU? This college has an amazing engineering program. I was raised on the family farm and want to give back to the agricultural industry in some way. I have many friends that have come to NDSU and have said that it is a great college. When I toured NDSU during FFA convention I felt at home. The atmosphere is perfect and I feel very comfortable here.

Why did you select the College of Agriculture, Food Systems, and Natural Resources? I chose this college because I have a strong passion for agriculture. I always knew I wanted to be in a career where I could give back to agriculture. I am technically in the College of Engineering but because of my major I am also involved in the College of Agriculture. There are so many opportunities and I couldn’t be happier to be a part of both colleges.

Scholarships you have received and why scholarships are important to you? Since being at NDSU I have received many different scholarships from ND FFA, ND Farm Bureau, ND Farm Credit Services, ND Dollars for Scholars, ND Academic Scholarship, NDSU Academic Scholarship and the Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Department. Scholarships have been very important to my college career. They have allowed me to get involved in different organizations and not worry about how I am going to pay for college. The financial burden of college is greatly reduced because of scholarships and grants.

Clubs/organizations you’re involved in and why involvement in activities is beneficial? I am a member of FarmHouse Fraternity and was elected chapter president for 2021. I am also involved in Ag Ambassadors, Bison Ambassadors and the ABEN Club. It is so important to get involved in organizations because you meet so many new people that you build great relationships with. I have gained so many friends and opportunities through the organizations I am in.

List any internships and a brief description of what you did: This past summer I was a manufacturing engineering intern at Amity Technology LLC. The main task I did was making fixtures and jigs for the welding department. These fixtures were made so the welders in the shop could put the parts in the jig and weld them without having to measure and use hand clamps to hold the parts together. I also would go out into assembly and help put machines together.

What is your greatest memory at NDSU? My favorite memories involve meeting new people. Whether it is someone I have met in a class or in an organization, I know these friendships will last a long time.

What are your future plans? After graduating from NDSU with a degree in Agricultural Engineering, my career objective is to become employed at an agricultural-based machinery company such as Amity Technology LLC, Case IH, John Deere, or AGCO, where I plan to design equipment that is top-rated for quality, efficiency, and safety.
