Former faculty member to be inducted into Ag Hall of Fame

Marcia McMullen, retired NDSU professor and Extension plant pathologist, is set to be inducted into the North Dakota Agriculture Hall of Fame on Tuesday, March 5, during the 82nd annual North Dakota Winter Show in Valley City.

McMullen earned her doctorate in plant pathology at NDSU, and was a faculty member of the NDSU plant pathology department for nearly 30 years.

McMullen was a member of the Northcentral IPM Stakeholder Committee, executive committee of the U.S. Wheat and Barley Scab Initiative, Northcentral Wheat Pathologists Committee, Advanced Crop Advisors Committee, and Policy Committee of Northland Federal Educators Credit Union. 

She received the Continued Service Award from Upsilon Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Phi Extension Fraternity, Boss of the Year Award from the International Association of Administrative Professionals, Excellence in Extension Award from the American Phytopathological Society, Distinguished Service Award from the Northcentral Division of the American Phytopathological Society, Agricultural Woman of the Year award from the Sigma Alpha Agriculture Sorority, Honorary Kernel Award from the North Dakota Grain Growers Association, Woman of the Year in Agriculture from the Fargo/Moorhead YWCA, and Communicator of the Year from the NDSU Agricultural Communication Association.

McMullen will be inducted with farmer Robert Carlson, the former president of North Dakota Farmers Union and the first president of the World Farmers Organization based in Rome.
