Faculty Awarded the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture

Dr. David Englund, NACTA Educator Award

David Englund

David Englund is an economics senior lecturer with over twenty years of teaching experience. He is in his seventh year at North Dakota State University. He primarily teaches large sections of introduction classes like Principles of Microeconomics and advises incoming students. In his free time, he writes science fiction novels and is an amateur photographer.

Student Quotes:

Mr. Englund is very interesting to learn from. He made the class interactive which is difficult to do with such a large class. I have recommended this course and instructor to many people, as he does a really great job in making economics come to life. My favorite professor so far.

Passion leads Mr. Englund to action. He strives to connect with students of all experience levels by utilizing relatable analogies to solidify abstract economic concepts and theories to make them understandable and interesting. In his Agricultural Marketing courses, he seeks out the best that NDSU has to offer in specific fields, such as extension educators, to assist in teaching livestock or grain marketing and to share current updates or technical strategies. In all of this, he incorporates various forms of technology into his classroom such as TurningPoint clickers to provide students with valuable practice, gauge student learning and engagement, and track attendance. Passion without action is useless, but when the two are paired, it is a sure recipe for success and excellence.
