The NDSU Carrington Research Extension Center conducts applied pathology research on the breadth of crops grown in North Dakota.

COOL-SEASON PULSES:  CHICKPEAS

Fungicide testing results:  Fungicide efficacy testing results from Carrington, Minot, and Williston, ND are provided on this page.  The registered products Bravo Weather Stik, Endura, Headline, Priaxor, Proline, Quadris, and Vertisan are evaluated as well as several experimental products.

Fungicide testing results:  Fungicide efficacy testing results for Ascochyta blight, anthracnose, and Sclerotinia stem rot of lentils are provided on this page.  All registered products as well as several experimental products were evaluated.  Results are also presented from an on-farm experiment evaluating the use of a fungicide-treated strip to manage gradients of Ascochyta blight originating from lentil residues in an adjacent field. 

Resistance of lentil varieties to foliar diseases:  Disease resistance screening results for commercially available lentil varieties are provided on this page. 

DRY EDIBLE BEANS

SAFFLOWER

SOYBEANS

Fungicide testing results:  Fungicide efficacy testing results for Sclerotinia stem rot on soybeans are provided on this page.  All registered products were evaluated. 

Field evaluation of Contans for Sclerotinia control:  Results from field trials evaluating application rates, application timing, and incorporation methods of Contans WG can be found on this page.  Contans WG is a biological control agent marketed for Sclerotinia control.

SUNFLOWERS

Field evaluation of sunflower hybrids for resistance to Sclerotinia head rot:  In reports posted on this page, sunflower hybrids exhibiting reduced susceptibility to Sclerotinia head rot are identified.

2015 Optimizing Fungicide Application Strategies for Management of Sclerotinia in Dry Edible Beans

The Carrington Research Extension Center initiated two new studies in 2015 with the goal of optimizing the use of fungicides for management of Sclerotinia stem rot (white mold) in dry edible beans. Fungicide application timing was assessed, and the use of drop nozzles was tested as a means for improving fungicide coverage.
