Plant Pathology and Plant Disease Management

The NDSU Carrington Research Extension Center develops outreach materials and conducts studies to improve the identification and management of plant diseases of economic importance to North Dakota. Diseases of chickpeas, dry beans, field peas, lentils, soybeans, and sunflowers are major emphases of current efforts, but work is also done on diseases of alfalfa, barley, canola, corn, flax, safflower, oats, and wheat.

      

CHICKPEAS

LENTILS

Fungicide efficacy testing results:  Data are presented from field trials evaluating fungicides for the control of Ascochyta blight, anthracnose, and Sclerotinia stem rot on lentils. 

Field tolerance of lentil varieties to foliar diseases:  Data are presented from field trials evaluating the tolerance of commercial lentil varieties to anthracnose and Sclerotinia stem rot.

Identification and management of foliar diseases of lentils:  This page presents bulletins illustrating disease symptoms and presenting disease management recommendations for Ascochyta blight, anthracnose, Botrytis gray mold, Sclerotinia stem rot, and Stemphylium blight of lentils.  

SOYBEANS

Fungicide efficacy testing results:  Data are presented from field trials evaluating fungicides and biological control products for the control of Sclerotinia stem rot on soybeans. 

SAFFLOWER
