Rotten egg odor only from the hot water tap.

A rotten egg odor only from the hot water tap indicates there are sulfates present in the raw water reacting with the magnesium anode, causing hydrogen sulfide gas.

Treatment: Remove the anode or replace it with an aluminum anode.

Always have your water tested and base any treatment on those results. Our Water Quality Interpretation Tool will aid you in your decisions.
