Exercise III Build and manipulate your own windbreak

Now that you have practiced using the Virtual Windbreak program and understand how it works, it is time to build your own windbreak and manipulate it to meet your needs.  This may be a good time to consult with your local Extension agent or Conservation District personnel.  Try various combinations of tree and shrub species, thinning and pruning.  Note how much protection each design gives.  The Virtual Windbreak will allow you to explore a myriad of opportunities, before choosing the best course of action.  In the real world, once a tree is cut, its gone.

Good luck with your windbreaks!
