Class Projects (Class of 2005)

Minto Health-Community Center

Possible locationOur community is in need of a community center. The only one we have is a Legion Hall that is now too small and needs a bit of repair.  We don't have any place to gather a large number of people except at the school and this does not work for all functions.  Also since we now have girls basketball and boys basketball at the same time we would like to have a gym at the community center to help take the pressure off the school gym and help so our young people don't have to get up so early in the morning to be able to participate in sports.  Since none of us are getting any younger we would like to have exercise equipment in the center for all ages.  It is Possible Locationhard for older people to drive to other towns to exercise. At the present time we have a senior center in town, but eventually we would like the seniors to meet at the center also. We want to be able to have wedding receptions in our town and not have to make our families leave town for these very community events.

There are groups in town that would like to participate in the center and would like to have offices in the center. The Jaycees, Legion members, Polish National Alliance, and the city.

One other big concern of our town is that everyone is talking about school consolidation and this would help keep people in our community with families and bring new families to our community.

We are only about 40 miles from Grand Forks. Small towns are the best place to raise a family and it wouldn't be hard to commute to work in Grand Forks. Our school received honors for being one of the top 100 schools in the nation.   This says a lot about how valuable small schools are!
