Animal Care & Lease Forms

The hot pink 2013 4-H Animal Care & Lease forms were mailed out to every member on May 22.  Please complete and sign your form and return to the Extension Service no later than June 10.  Forms postmarked after June 10 will result in the member not being able to go through the premium sale at the Ransom County Fair.  If you are not exhibiting animals at the fair, simply check the box that indicate that you are not showing animals, sign and return to our office.

If you have misplaced your form you can print one by clicking the Animal Care & Lease Form.

 

National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP)

Anyone wishing to exhibit poultry at the Ransom County Fair must comply with the requirement which is set by the North Dakota State Veterinary office.  This requirement is for those exhibiting in 4-H, FFA and Open Class.  Dates to get your poultry tested are:

Sunday, July 7
Sunday, July 21
Sunday, August 4
The site for testing is at the Ransom County Fairgrounds from 4-7 p.m.  each day.

Summer Camps!

4-H Camps

A variety of camps begin on May 28 and continue through August 4 at the 4-H Camp in Washburn, N.D.  Camps are open to youth of all ages (not need to be a 4-H member).  A list of Camps, details and dates are available now.

 

GEAR-Tech-21 Camp! -- June 17-20

GEAR-Tech-21 is an innovative program that brings robotics, GPS and GIS together. We have scheduled this camp during Extension Youth Conference, June 17 – 20 on the NDSU campus, so youth interested in attending will be able to ride the EYC bus to Fargo from various points across I-94 and US Hwy2.

  • Build and program robots.
  • Operate a handheld GPS receiver.
  • Put their science, technology, engineering, and math skills to work.
  • Explore the outdoors.
  • Apply robotics, GPS, and GIS technologies to geo-tracking, navigation, and mapmaking.
  • Learn about the role of information technology in natural resources and precision agriculture.
  • Find out about careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics including robotics, GPS/GIS, natural resource management and agricultural technology.
  • Complete fun challenges and have the opportunity to compete in a virtual competition with other youth across the country.

Camp size is limited to 12 so please encourage interested youth to register early. Registration cost is $200 and includes all meals from Monday evening through brunch on Thursday, overnight housing for Monday through Wednesday evening, a camp workbook and supplies and a T-shirt. Participants who chose to ride the designated 4-H buses from various pickup spots across North Dakota will pay an additional fee of $50.

 

Extension Youth Conference

June 17-20 NDSU Campus, Fargo

Open to anyone who has completed 7th grade up to age 18.  Youth do not need to be enrolled in 4-H to attend.

Costs
The total cost for the 4-H Extension Youth Conference is $200 per participant. This $200 fee includes all meals from Monday evening through Thursday brunch, overnight housing for Monday through Wednesday evening and a conference T-shirt.  If you are a Ransom County 4-H member $50 of the registration fee will be reimbursed by the Ransom County 4-H Council.

Curriculum committees have completed their work on the North Dakota 4-H Project sheets.  Each project sheet has information on project levels, activities, events, exhibit ideas, and resources.  View the projects sheets at: www.ndsu.edu/4h/project_sheets/.  The link is also on the Web Based Literature page.

manual.  The publication is currently out of stock, but we will be ordering one for each 4-H club.  Feel free to download the manual and view or print pages that interest you.

4-H Enrollment

2012-2013 Enrollment Forms are available on the 4-H Forms page.  All member forms were sent to your club leader.

The deadline for 4-H new and returning members is October 15.  After October 15  members who have not enrolled will be deleted from the program.  A members "six meeting requirement" will not start until the enrollment forms and Candy Coffin is received in the Ransom County Extension office.
