Ramsey County 4-H Checklist
4-H Age
September 1 is the starting date for ages and events related to the 4-H program.
Any youth who is 5 year old before September 1, but not 19 before September 1 is eligible to join a 4-H club.
Cloverbud - is a non-competitive youth program deisnged for 5, 6 & 7 year olds. Members must be five before September 1 to participate. The program emphasizes helping youth to explore, develop and learn while having fun in an informal environment. They are not eligible to participate in district or state contests.
Preteen - A 4-H member who is 8-12 years old before September 1 will participate in the pre-teen division.
Teen - A 4-H member who is 13 & 18 before September 1 will participate in the teen division.
Year Completion
Fall of 1996 the Ramsey County 4-H Council passed the following requirement: Each 4-Her in order to complete the 4-H year must attend at least three (3) formal business meetings and three (3) club or county activities of their choice. A formal business meeting will consist of the following: parliamentary procedure, roll call, pledges, and discussion of the business of the club.
Dress Code
A white shirt with the 4-H emblem displayed or attached to the front of the shirt. Also acceptable are club 4-H shirts. Dark jeans/slacks/skirt are preferred.
The following types of clothing are not acceptable: short shorts or short skirts, shirts/tops that are low-cut nor allow the mid-riff to show. Shirts should be long enough to be tucked into the pants/skirt.
Enrollment Form
Enrollment forms are due in the Extension Office by October 1, to be on the current mailing list.
Ramsey County 4-H members must have on file in the Ramsey County Extension Office a current year completed enrollment form by March 15, to be eligible to participate in Ramsey County 4-H Achievement Days.
