Team Expectations

Team Goals  

  • Prioritize emerging needs or issues affecting your county/region/state
  • Identify programs or activities to be developed/strengthened
  • Create a system of regular input and discussion regarding goals and input for the team and interested staff
  • Develop, implement and evaluate programs and activities relative to the respective program team needs
  • Provide evidence of excellence in programming for decision makers and funders by developing one or more signature programs


Signature Programs

A signature program is a comprehensive team-based program that addresses a priority issue and evaluates the program's impact on the learning, application, or effect with clientele.

Common expectations of signature programs
  • Signature programs are sustained activities that target priority issues
  • A series of three or more classes/sessions or activities within one topic/issue area
  • Program offered in many locations in the state or in targeted areas as appropriate (such as canola production areas)
  • Involves the collaboration of specialists and agents, where agents have an active education or facilitation role (i.e. not a “host”)
  • Action plan includes an evaluation tool/plan prior to implementing program
  • Evaluation component included at level 2-3-4 and providing outcomes/impacts to report, preferably using a follow-up evaluation after 4-12 months as appropriate to document changes
  • Annual impact report is written and posted


Team Leader Responsibilities

 

  • Facilitate team meeting scheduling and conduct
  • Maintain team communication among specialists and agents and with program leaders
  • Maintain current members on team listserv
  • Coordinate/assign the collection or development of opportunities for subject matter professional development
  • Coordinate/assign the updating of self-assessment materials


Team Member Expectations

  • Agents and specialists should be active members in at least one team related to their competency. Agents may be a member of more than one team based on consultation with their district director
  • Make connections with others on the program team
  • Be active in providing input on extension programming
  • Play a role in the future of their county/region/state
  • Learn specific information and resources within program teams through updates and staff development opportunities
  • Develop a sense of accomplishment as goals are reached
