Julie Hudson-Schenfisch

Family Economics Specialist
NDSU Extension Service

Julie started her extension career in Minnesota before becoming an agent in McLean County in 1978. She is currently serving as interim family economics specialist. Recently she has been involved in the Changing the Way You Farm workshops and serves as a co-chair of the farm financial crisis team. She has always been a strong supporter of the 4-H program and has developed practical and useful teaching materials for volunteers, as well  as educational tools for 4-H members to use. Teaching leaders to teach  and helping volunteers in groups such as Family and Community Education clubs has always been a commitment with her. She has worked extensively with schools, using North Dakota agricultural products to help school-age children learn about the importance of agriculture in their lives. She has presented teacher workshops on various topics and was asked to provide training to faculty and staff of McLean County schools on sexual harassment in the school setting. Her work with local libraries helped form the coalition necessary to offer Women's Financial Planning Programs, and she was a major force in developing a bicycle helmet safety program that involved  the public health department and the local sheriff's department.
