1999 Meritorious Service Award

Extension Agent, Williams County

Linda has served as an extension agent in Williams County since 1974. Among the many programs she has conducted is the Fifth Grade Bread Fair, held annually as part of the National Hard Spring Wheat Show, in which more than 300 fifth graders learn about bread. She started a technology expo, a trade show involving several area technology related businesses that offers more than 40 workshops allowing local people to learn more about computers. She has offered Character Counts training three times, training more than 250 individuals representing 30 schools, which has reached about 6,000 students and adults. Her other efforts include the 5 Plus 5 Program, the Living Ag Classroom, babysitting clinics and FCE clubs. She works with the mass media in the county, doing a weekly "Snack Attack" TV promotion, two weekly radio programs and a weekly news column to three newspapers. Linda has worked with hundreds of 4-H members, leaders and families.
