Ardis Carvell
Her location at the service counter in the Agriculture
Communication Distribution Center provides Ardis an opportunity
to give a good first impression for extension and NDSU. She is a
main contact for the general public as well as the NDSU
community, handling walk-in requests for publications as well as
orders for graphics, photographic services and the print shop.
She also handles requests by e-mail, telephone, fax, and mail.
She handles all orders for computer software, and duplicates and
mails computer disks of the weekly news packet to the media. Her
knowledge and friendly personality enable her to handle requests,
even from "difficult" customers, cheerfully and
efficiently. Ardis has served on the NDSU Staff Senate and is
currently on the senate's staff recognition selection committee.
Among her interests (in addition to her family) is her love of
animals, evidenced by her involvement with the Adopt a Pet
organization and her work as a volunteer with the Red River
Zoological Society.
Kaye Jessen
Kaye is described as the glue that holds the Stark/Billings
extension office together. Her background in elementary education
is a valuable asset that comes through in her preparation of
presentation materials, as well as her work with office resources
and displays and in the 4-H program. Kaye is also valued as a
sounding board, listening to ideas, weighing both sides of
issues, and helping make wise decisions. She is very concerned
with clientele, willing to go the extra mile to handle requests
and provide information. She is especially knowledgeable about
the county leafy spurge control program and works with the local
weed board. Kaye is active in the community, including her church
and the local Beginning Experience group. She is involved with a
line dancing club and also enjoys golf, movies and reading.
Faye Klein
As administrative assistant, Faye manages the day-to-day
procedures in the 4-H Youth Development office, working with all
specialists and secretarial staff. During her career with
extension she has worked with both 4-H curriculum and youth
activities. She was involved with literature management, working
closely with communication to monitor inventory levels of 4-H
literature. She worked with preparations for events and
volunteered to help at such events as the State Fair and provided
support for such projects as development of FairCalc and the Blue
Ribbon enrollment program. Faye takes an active role in staff
development in the office and provided leadership in the unit
during the transition of faculty and staff into departments
within the College of Human Development and Education. She is
serving as co-chair of the planning committee for the upcoming
support staff conference.
