Doug Vannurden is a terrific supporter of Extension and 4-H work in North Dakota. As Assistant Supervisor for Agriculture Education and Executive Secretary for the North Dakota FFA, Doug has continued to collaborate with the Center for 4-H Youth Development, NDSU Agriculture, and County Extension offices to provide opportunities for youth development.

Doug has not been concerned about competition between two youth development programs, but rather has been a promoter of shared resources, and collaborative effort. For example, 4-H and FFA shares resources, planning, and coordination of livestock judging, crop judging, specific events at the North Dakota State Fair, land and home site evaluation, range evaluation and judging. This cooperative effort has continued to grow under the guidance and encouragement from the office of vocational programs, Agriculture education, and in particular from Doug. He is always conscientious of how their programs might affect 4-H programs and has been generous in offering help to keep us in sync whenever potential changes are discussed from the FFA side.

It has been my personal privilege to work with Doug on many occasions as we plan activities, events, and other youth serving programs. He is energetic and dependable. Doug provides a great understanding of the career development events (CDE) FFA provides and is eager to assist 4-H whenever there is shared topic of interest.
