2000 Mid Career Service Award

Roger Egeberg

Computer Programmer/Analyst
Agriculture Communication
NDSU Extension Service

Roger has been a programmer analyst with the computer services unit since 1984. In those 16 years his work has enhanced the communication capabilities of Extension Service staff, as everyone in the organization uses the electronic services he has developed. Roger developed the ExtNet system which provided electronic mail and file transfer capabilities, implemented the gopher system and was instrumental in developing the first World Wide Web site for NDSU Agriculture. Computer_based applications he has developed, from crop disease forecasting models to business analysis programs, are used by thousands of people. He also administers the Unix computer systems that support all e_mail, Web and database activities under the Vice President for Agricultural Affairs. It*s easy to overlook Roger because he has done such a good job of keeping the system up and running that everyone just expects it to be there.
