Dean first worked for the Extension Service as an assistant county agent in Stutsman County from 1983 to 1987. He then spent a year teaching vocational agriculture before becoming 4_H activity coordinator in 1988. Management of 4_H activities at the North Dakota State Fair, from exhibit lists to final reports, is one of Dean*s major roles. He also provides leadership for the 4_H Blue Ribbon Enrollment computer program, which helps county staff manage data related to 4_H programs, and was responsible for development of the FairCalc computer program for managing county fair data. He coordinated the annual natural resources camp for 11 years and coordinates many other activities, including judging events, youth trips, consumer choices and communication arts.
