    Spring Frost Tolerance in Soybeans

Soybean in the cotyledon growth stage may tolerate temperatures to 27 degrees F. Soybean in the unifoliate and trifoliate are more sensitive to cold temperatures. Cooler weather - 60 degrees F for day time high - before frost increases soybean tolerance to freezing temperatures, compared to 80 degree F highs. Always wait a few days after freezing temperatures before making replant decisions. Regrowth should be evident within 4-7 days after freezing temperatures. The regrowth will come from the terminal bud or axillary buds.
