SOIL MOISTURE

Soils in our area hold 2 - 2 1/2 inches of water per foot. Sandy soils hold about 1 inch of water, loam soils 2 - 2 1/2 inches of water. Heavy clay soils hold more water than loam soils but less of the water is available for plant growth.
