Quackgrass Control on Fallow

Controlling weeds on fallow and maintaining adequate cover often involves using herbicides as well as tillage. Without herbicides Quackgrass is a tough weed that requires extensive tillage for control. This removes needed residue.

Glyphosate products offer a good alternative for quackgrass control without tillage. Apply 0.75 lb a.i/acre in the spring or fall when the quackgrass is eight inches tall and actively growing. Some formulation needs surfactant addition. For established quackgrass sod, use Glyphosate at 1.5 lbs a.i./acre. Allow three or more days after application before tillage. Refer to the labels for specific information on use for quackgrass control.
