Curtail for Canada Thistle Control in Small Grain

Curtail (clopyralid + 2,4-D amine) is a mixture for broadleaf weed control in spring wheat and barley. Curtail will give good control of most annual broadleaf weeds. In addition, research has shown that Curtail will provide excellent shoot suppression of Canada thistle. However, repeated applications may needed for complete Canada thistle control. Curtail should be applied from tillering until prior to the boot stage of spring wheat and barley. Curtail can be tank mixed with Avenge for wild oats control. Curtail does have some soil residual, therefore, consult the label for crops that can be planted the year following a Curtail application.

Curtail is weak on kochia. In heavy infestations of kochia or kochia plants larger than 1" tall will require a tank mix partner to effectively control kochia. Several partners are labeled for use with Curtail.
