Field Selection For Field Pea Production

Fits well following and previous to a small grain

Relates to residue and plant disease

Avoid Tordon, Finesse, Amber, Ally, Assert herbicide residues

Avoid salt affected soils

Sensitivity scale:

    Field pea = drybean> corn= sunflower> wheat=soybean= oats> barley

Well drained soils preferred

Performs best on clay loams or loamy soils

Soil pH of 5.7 to 8.0

A 4-year legume rotation ideal
