Naked Oat Use For Forage

Oat hay is the most commonly used hay crop in North Dakota. Typically, tall, late maturing oat varieties are best suited for forage. Paul is considered to be an excellent choice for use as a forage. Paul could also be used in forage mixtures with field peas due to its tall plant height and lodging resistance. Paul's physiological maturity is similar to "Trapper" field pea which in combination also could be harvested together for grain.
