FEEDING

Proso millet is grown for its grain, which is used in seed mixtures for cage and wild birds. It can also be fed to sheep, cattle, hogs or poultry and has about the same feed value as oats or barley. Millet grain fed to livestock should be ground before feeding. Foxtail millet, which has a finer stem than proso millet, is more frequently grown for hay, silage or for bird seed.
