Insecticide Availability for Grasshopper Control
Based on 2004 ND Field Insect Guide

When grasshopper populations reach economic threshold levels, several insecticides are available for control in crop as listed below.

Corn: Asana XL, Sevin, Capture 2EC, Digon 400, Dimethoate 400, Lorsban 4E, Mustang, Furadan 4F, Malathion, Methyl Parathion, Penncap M, and Warrior. Control is advised when grasshoppers exceed 8 adults per square yard in the field or 20 in field margins.

Wheat: Sevin, Furadan 4F, Lannate LV, Malathion 57E or ULV, Mustang and Warrior.

Barley: Furadan 4F, Lannate LV, Malathion 57EG or ULV.

Soybean: Asana XL, Digon 400,  Dimethoate 400, Sevin, Furadan 4F, Lorsban 4E, Scout X-TRA, Penncap-M and Warrior. 

Drybeans: Asana XL, Sevin, Mustang, Orthene 75s and Address 755.

Sunflower: Asana XL, Furadan 4F, Lorsban 4E,  Sevin, Scout X-TRA and Warrior.

Sugarbeets: Mustang, Methyl Parathion, Lorsban 4E and Diazinon AG500.

Flax: Sevin XLR.
