Shattering in Spring Wheat Shattering is a problem in certain years in spring wheat. Usually shattering is most severe in years when many wet-dry cycles affect grain heads before harvest. Nearly all varieties will shatter in these conditions. While information on shattering is limited, it appears the varieties LEN, 2375, COTEAU and SHIELD may severely shatter with Marshall, 2371 , AC Minto, and Vance being slightly less prone to shatter. Other varieties have no shatter or slight shatter. Back to Shattering -
