Seedling Diseases Several fungi cause seedling diseases that result in stand reductions. Most important along these are anthracnose, stem break (browning), damping-off, and seedling blight. Stem break may also attack mature plants causing stems to become brittle and break off near the ground. No variety is resistant to the seedling diseases. Use of clean, sound seed with good germination plus proper seed treatment helps keep losses to a minimum. Back to Disease - Flax
