Planting Information

Seeing Date

Seed in late April-early May. Yield decreases approximately 2 bu/week for each week delay in seeding. More severe yield decline occurs when planting after May 15 in Northern North Dakota.

Seeding Rate

35-50 lb/A Plant 1" to 1 1/2", seed to moisture in firm, cultivated seedbed.

Seed Treatment

Should be practiced. Flax seed is small and can be easily injured at harvest allowing disease to enter the seed.

Disease

Seed rot, seedling blight and various fungi. Products containing Maneb, mancozeb or captan are cleared for use.

Grow rust resistant varieties. Avoid planting flax on flax ground.
