Zinc Nutrition Efficiency

Zinc nutrient uptake efficiency increases when zinc is soil applied and intercepted by growing roots early in the season.

Chelated trace element sources have a reputation for increased uptake efficiency. The chelate carrier will temporarily protect zinc from soil reactions that reduce its solubility and result in increased uptake efficiency. Although chelates are more expensive, lower rates can be used with proper placement techniques. EDTA chelates may be phytotoxic when used as a foliar spray and may burn young vegetative tissue. Crops recover but growth may be delayed.
