Frost Injury to Ripening Flax
1988-91 research in Canada showed that night temperatures had to drop to below 27 degrees Fahrenheit in order to severely damage immature green seeds. Temperatures of below 25 degrees Fahrenheit were reached before damage to leaves and fine stems holding the boll or to the green capsules themselves was recorded. Tests also showed that 20 degrees Fahrenheit range before the main stems were damaged.
