The senior Cass County team of Joesph Frisinger, Skylar Schafer, Ryan Biewer and Taylor Pederson took top team honors in the 2014 4-H state air rifle match held in Devils Lake.

Maria Rosa-Nieves of Ramsey County was the top individual scorer in the senior division with 509, Brandon Alexander of Ramsey County placed second with a score of 410 and Reid Fossen of Stutsman County received third place with a score of 380.

The 2014 4-H state air rifle match was one of three discipline matches in which senior age division participants may compete to qualify for the 2015 4-H National Invitational Match. The other two discipline matches are archery and shotgun.

Youth age 8 to 10 are beginners and age 11 to 13 are in the junior division in the air rifle match. The senior division is for youth 14 to 18 years old. The competition is limited to sporter class air rifles.

Beginners participated in a 40-shot bench-rest competition for a possible score of 400. The junior and senior teams competed in a three-position, (prone, kneeling and standing) event, performing 20 shots in each position for a potential score of 600.

The junior division air rifle team champions were Jacob Vaagen, Peter Wang, Christopher Shepherd and Zachary Ohma of Ramsey County. The individual high score was shared by Vaagen and Will Peckham of Stutsman County, with 396. Wang took second place with a score of 375, with third place going to Kooper Hahn Shagena from Cass County, who earned a score of 367.

The Ramsey County team of Jenna Gerhardt, Rachel Alexander, Gage Meyer and Collin Lee claimed the top team honors in the beginner division. Gerhardt was the individual top scorer with 335, Rachel Alexander placed second with a score of 329 and Meyer finished in the third spot with 316.
