4-H Horse Judging Contest Results Announced

North Dakota 4-H teams bring home horse judging awards.

The 4-H horse judging team from Sargent and Stark-Billings counties placed first in the senior division of the horse judging contest at the North Dakota State University Equine Center in Fargo on April 2.

Team members are Hannah Brummond of Havana; Megan Dukart and Brooklyn Kadrmas of Dickinson; and Alicia Widhalm of Milnor. Kay Poland, Julie Hassebroek and Kody Bundy coach the team.

The Benson County team placed second and the Barnes County team placed third.

Katie Rice, Maddock, placed first in individual competition.

Burleigh County’s team placed first in the junior division. Team members are Mackenzie Reinhardt from Hazen and Morgan Heidrich, Jordan Jacob, Shelby Muslke, Chris Iszler, Trey Iszler and Hannah Swenson from Bismarck. Sheila Scholl is the team’s coach.

The Ransom County team placed second and the Stark-Billings County team placed third.

Allisha Dvorshak, Dickinson, placed first in individual scores.

Horse judging consists of evaluating classes of four horses or four rides in a specific performance event and ranking them based on conformation or how they performed. Contestants defend their placing with oral reasons.
